MarketFest 2018 in Nelson BC!
For two glorious evenings each summer, the West Kootenay EcoSociety hosts the popular MarketFest. It's an epic street party that takes over Nelson's Baker Street with music, dancing, live performances, delicious foods and treats and over 100 vendors with beautiful hand-made goods including jewellery, clothing, pottery, body products, and so much more!
We find that heading downtown before the festival begins, around 5:30 pm, means we can plan to have dinner somewhere downtown at one of Nelson’s selection of family-friendly restaurants. But if we don't manage to squeeze dinner in before the festival, we do love grabbing a bite from one of the delicious MarketFest food vendors!
Being early also means we can get pretty good parking, which is a super bonus when lugging a tired toddler back to the car. Also, we enjoy many of the lovely kid-friendly activities - our daughter loves the crafts, and our son could honestly play with the giant bubbles the whole time.
As busy parents who don't get out enough, it's fun walking through the party and bumping into friends. Our crew enjoys some music and dancing before the kids need to head home to bed, while the party continues into the night for the crowd that doesn't need to get to sleep by 8. 😉
MarketFest is fun for the whole family and is not to be missed. It's one of the best events in Nelson where the whole community can come to hang out together in the warm summer evening. The MarketFest festivities run from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm.
A $5 donation for admission is kindly requested for anyone over 18. Everyone is welcome, whether you make a donation or not!
Don't miss your last opportunity to enjoy the party of the summer on Friday, August 24th!
